Cremeens Awarded Jimmy Allen Memorial Scholarship

Miranda Cremeens of Kitts Hill, Ohio, is the recipient of the Jimmy Allen Memorial Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.

Jimmy Allen's friends and family established The Jimmy Allen Memorial Scholarship in 2003 to celebrate his love of education and to keep alive his belief that higher education adds meaning and purpose to life.

Before coming to SSU, Allen had trained for five years to become a sheet metal worker. An accident forced a change in his life, but it did not weaken his positive spirit.

The SSU community remembers Allen for his drive to succeed despite any hardships that may have been caused by his disability. He was paralyzed from a diving accident and was confined to a wheelchair.
