Student Employment Job Postings

We post open student employment positions on the Career Services web page Job Postings.

Please email Lisa Goodan at lgoodan@shawnee.edu or stop by the Office of Career and request that your application be forwarded to the department(s) where the position(s) exists. Remember, filling out an application does not guarantee that you will be hired. If you are hired by a department on campus, the student must go to the Payroll Department in Human Resources to complete necessary documentation.

Current Student Employment wage rate

The student employment rate is $7.30 an hour.

The difference between Student Employment and College Work Study

Student employees are paid from department funds.
Federal College Work Study students are paid from federal funds as part of their financial aid package. Therefore, financial need is considered as part of the Federal College Work Study award process. To apply for Federal Work Study, please contact the Financial Aid Office at Shawnee State University. Payment for students working Student Employment and Federal Work Study is biweekly and is not applied to their financial aid package.

SUPERVISOR (ADMINISTRATIVE) RESPONSIBILITIES:

Posting: When the department has a vacant student employment position available, the supervisor is required to submit a position description to the Office of Career Services by completing a Department Job Vacancy Form on the Career Services website or through a link provided on MySSU. Department Job Vacancy Form Once received, the Office of Career Services will provide a list of candidates matching the desired qualifications within five(5) working days. Once the decision has been made to hire a student, the department is required to notify the Office of Career Services immediately so the position can be removed.

Paperwork: Supervisors must be certain that students do not begin working until all Student Employment and Human Resource paperwork is completed. The supervisor must complete the required Authorization to Hire or Change Notice, including account number and required signatures. Authorization to Hire or Change Instructions and Authorization to Hire or Change Notice. To ensure eligibility, the supervisor must then return this form to the Office of Career Services by fax to ext. 3551. NOTE: It is very important that all employment paperwork be completed as required. The student will not be considered "employed" or paid until approvals and necessary forms are officially processed. Due to auditing purposes, departments are required to resubmit a new Authorization to Hire or Change Form to Human Resources at the beginning of each fiscal year.
