November 7 vs. Roberts Wesleyan (AMC Tournament Quarterfinals)
The #4 seed Shawnee State women's soccer team fell to #5 seed Roberts Wesleyan College in the first appearance in the quarterfinals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament at home on Saturday afternoon.  Shawnee State ends the season with an overall record of 11-6.  Robert Wesleyan's Laura Willit found Kelsey Medeiros in the 29th minute of action to put the Raiders on the board and the 1-0 halftime advantage.  Lindley Zimmerman scored Roberts Wesleyan's second goal of the game on an assist from Joanna Switzer in 53rd minute.  Shawnee State was outshot 6-4 in shots on goal. Sam Rolsen played 89 minutes and tallied four saves in her final appearance in goal at Shawnee State University.  She completes her four-year career with Shawnee State's record for most career wins (33).  Staci White, Lacie Abella, and Savoeung Ien also complete their four-year careers at Shawnee State as the most successful class as they accumulated a record of 34 wins, 30 loses, and five ties.  [Box Score]
 
October 31 vs. Ursuline
The Shawnee State women's soccer team closes out the regular season as they got an important overtime win over Ursuline College on Saturday afternoon.  The win guarantees the Bears a home game in the quarterfinals of the AMC Tournament.  With the win the Bears improve to 11-5 overall and 7-5 in the conference, which gives them a fourth place finish in the final AMC standings. This is the highest finish for the Bears in school history.  During today's games four seniors were recognized for the hard work and dedication during their four-year careers at Shawnee State University.  Being the most successful class, the class of 2009 has accumulated a record of 34 wins, 29 loses, and five ties over the past four years. "We would like to thank these four student-athletes and their families for all that they have done to help the program grow over the past four years," said Coach Rob Appell.  "We would not be where we are today without each of them.  Their loyalty, dedication, and enthusiasm towards our program will be hard to replace" Shawnee State got off to a good start scoring two goals early.  Sophomore Danielle Morgan scored the first goal of the game, her fourth of the season, on an assist from junior Kelley Bowles in the 10th minute.  Bowles would score her team leading 11th goal of the season five minutes later on an assist from Morgan.  Ursuline would get a goal from Jaimie Grindle in the 39th minute to come within a goal of the Bears at the break.  Ursuline scored just within three minutes into the half to tie the game at 2.  The score remained tied at the end of regulation.  Freshman Brittany Brooks found the back of the net in the 98th minute for her eighth goal of the season on an assist from Cindi Hay to give the Bears the 3-2 overtime victory.  Senior Sam Rolsen played all 98 minutes in goal and recorded five saves, taking her to 97 on the season and recording her 33rd career win.  [Box Score]
 
October 27 @ Rio Grande
Shawnee State women's soccer team defeated rival Rio Grande 3-1 to set a new record of wins in a season with 10.  Shawnee State got off to a slow start as Rio Grande's Mandi Thomas tallied a goal in the 37th minute to give the RedStorm a 1-0 lead at halftime.  Freshman Brittany Brooks got the Bears scoring going, as she tallied her seventh goal of the year on on an assist from sophomore Danielle Morgan's in the 51st minute.  Morgan then tallied a goal of her own eight minutes later on an assist from junior Kelley Bowles.  Morgan's goal would be the game winner and her third goal of the season.   Bowles, which is SSU's leading goal scorer this season, tallied her 10th goal of the season on an assist from Brooks in the 64th minute of action.  Bowles is the third player in SSU history to score 10 goals in a single season.  She currently ranks second on the all-time points and goals list.  Shawnee State's Sam Rolsen tallied six saves in the game.  Rio Grande's Kaitlyn Schultz tallied eight saves for the RedStorm. October 24 @ Houghton
The Bears fell to conference leader Houghton College 3-0.  Houghton out shot the Bears 11-3 on shots on goal.  SSU's Sam Rolsen tallied eight saves in the game.  HC's Alexa Thayer tallied three saves in the game.  [Box Score]
 
October 23 @ Roberts Wesleyan
The Bears stunned Roberts Wesleyan in a double overtime victory.  Shawnee State's junior Cindi Hay scored in the 103rd minute on an assist by sophomore Bailey Hill to give the Bears the 2-1 win.  This goal is Hay's second of the season.  Shawnee State got on the board first as junior Kelley Bowles tallied her ninth goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Marie-Elana Kennedy and give the Bears the 1-0 advantage at the half.  Robert Wesleyan tied the game in the 49th minute of action as Erika Luedke scored unassisted, which would send the game in to overtime.  In the first overtime, both RWC's Amanda Prestigiacomo and SSU's Sam Rolsen came up with key saves to push the game into a second overtime.  Rolsen finished with eight saves in the game, while Prestigiacomo tallied six saves. October 17 vs. Carlow
Shawnee State women's team shutout Carlow 3-0.  Shawnee State controlled the game from the beginning as the Bears' defense held Carlow scoreless.  Kelley Bowles got the Bears' scoring going as she tallied her ninth goal of the season on an assist from Danielle Morgan in the 30th minute of the play.  The Bears' scored five minutes later as Staci White tallied her third goal of the season on assists from Bowles and Morgan to give the Bears the 2-0 advantage at the half.  Morgan tallied the final goal of the game, her third of the season, in the 60 minute of play unassisted.  Shawnee State's Sam Rolsen recorded six saves in the game for her fifth shutout of the season. Carlow's Nicole Yusko tallied seven saves in the game. [Box Score]
 
October 14 vs. Mount Vernon
Shawnee State women's team fell 1-0 in a tough overtime loss to Mount Vernon In a very wet and soggy battle, Mount Vernon's Jessica Linger got a breakaway just two minutes into overtime to score the only goal of the game and give Mount Vernon the victory.  Shawnee State managed only two shots on goal in the game, compared to Mount Vernon's six.  Sam Rolsen tallied five saves in in 92 minutes in goal.  MVNU's Jenessa Loewen tallied two saves for the Cougars.  [Box Score]
 
October 10 vs. Point Park
Shawnee State got a 2-1 victory over Point Park to win their fifth consecutive game.  The Bears got on the board first as junior Kelley Bowles (Cincinnati, OH) tallied her seventh goal of the season on an assist from Cindi Hay in the 29th minute of action.  Point Park's Jo Jo Altebrando evened the score in the 37th minute on a free kick form 20 yards out.  Both teams battled the next eight minutes of the first half to go into the break tied at one.  The game winning goal came in the 73rd minute when senior Staci White (Chillicothe, OH) played freshman Brittany Brooks (Cincinnati, OH) a thru ball that she collected and finished for the goal.  This tallies Brooks' six goal of the season.  The Bears' defense held strong allowing Point Park only one shot in the final 22 minutes.  Senior Sam Rolsen (Cincinnati, OH) played the full 90 minutes in goal and recorded seven saves.  Point Park's Liz Velez played the duration of the game in goal and recorded five saves.  [Box Score]
 
October 9 vs. Daemen
Shawnee State women's soccer team came out and scored three goals in the second half to defeat Daemen 3-1 in what turned out to be a soggy afternoon.  Daemen scored the first goal of the game in the 41st on a unassisted goal from Alicia Vasiloff and take a 1-0 halftime lead.  Junior Kelley Bowles got the scoring started for the Bears in the 61st minute, which was one of three goals scored by Bears in a 26 minute span.  Bowles' equalizer was her sixth tally of the season and came on an assist from Danielle Morgan.  Senior Lacie Abella scored her first goal of the season, which turned out to be the Bears' game winner, in the 67th minute on an assist from Bowles.  Freshman Ashleigh Yockey rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the season on an assist from Cindi Hay in the 87th minute of play.  Senior Sam Rolsen anchored a steady defense, recording four saves in the game.  Daemen's Marisa Alfieri tallied four saves.  [Box Score]  "I'm very pleased with the team's second half enthusiasm and effort," said Head Coach Rob Appell.  "We adjusted to the conditions of the game and did the things necessary to win."
 
October 3 @ Walsh
Freshman Brittany Brooks had a big day for the Bears as she tallied both SSU goals in the Bears 2-1 double-overtime victory.  Walsh's Gina Pinsone tallied the first goal of the game on an assist from Molly Martin in the 19th minute of play to give Walsh the 1-0 halftime lead.  Brooks tied the game in the 50th minute of play on an assist from Cindi Hay.  Brooks then tallied the game winner in the 4th minute of double-overtime to give the Bears the victory.  SSU's Paige Appell started the game and tallied three saves in 30 minutes in goal.  Sam Rolsen tallied 74 minutes in goal and tallied seven saves.  Jillian Zanney tallied six saves in the goal for Walsh.  [Box Score]
 
September 29 vs. Kentucky Christian
Shawnee State shut out Kentucky Christian 5-0. Shawnee State's offense produced 23 shots on goal and their defense only gave up one shot on goal in the game. Brittany Brooks scored the Bears first goal of the game on an assist from Kelley Bowles in the 17th minute of play. Danielle Morgan scored in the 24th minutes of play on an assist from Lacie Abella to give the Bears the 2-0 halftime lead. Bowles opened the second half with a goal by Bowles on an assist from Morgan in the 46th minute of action.  Shawnee State scored less than three minutes later on Brooks' second goal of the game on an assist from Cindi Hay.  Bowles scored the final goal of the game in the 52nd minute of play on an assist from Hay.  SSU's Sam Rolsen tallied one save in the game.  KCU's Olivia Katt tallied 18 saves in the game. September 26 @ Notre Dame
Shawnee State women's soccer team got a 1-0 victory at Notre Dame to pick up their first conference win of the season.  Shawnee State's goal came on an own goal by Notre Dame in the 5th minute of play. SSU's Sam Rolsen made a save on a penalty kick by Lauren Acker in the 72nd minute of play to hold off Notre Dame.  Rolsen tallied five saves in the game.  NDC's Brittany Cruz had one save in the game.  [Box Score]
 
September 22 vs. Cedarville

Shawnee State women's soccer team lost to Cedarville University 4-0.  The Bears were only down 1-0 at the half, but the Yellow Jackets had a strong second half to get the victory.  CU's Rachel Brown scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute.  Erin Landers scored the second goal on an assist from Kelsey Watkins in the 53th minute.  Becky Burton scored in the 65th minute of play for the Yellow Jackets.  Dresden Matson scored a goal in the 86th minute to tally the final score. Cedarville outshot the Bears 26-6 in the game.  SSU's Same Rolsen tallied nine saves in the game.  CU's Alysia Bennett had one save in the game. [Box Score]

 
September 19 @ Malone

Shawnee State fell to Malone University 1-0 to open conference play.  Malone's Katie Hickman scored the only goal of the game on assists by Sarah Heckman and Cassandra Daniels in the 48th minute of play.  SSU's Same Rolsen tallied seven saves in the loss.  Malone's Angie Nutial tallied five saves.  Shawnee State was outshot 15-5 in the game.  [Box Score]

 
September 14 @ Mountain State
Shawnee State women's soccer team got a big win over Mountain State on Monday as they defeated the Cougars 8-1.  Shawnee State's balanced attack was led by Kelley Bowles, who tallied one goal and three assists in the game.  In route to an 8-1 victory, the Bears had eight different goal scorers, five of which scored their first career goals.  Cindi Hay scored the Bears first goal in the 8th minute, on an assist by Bowles.  Staci White scored, what would be the game winning goal, in the 18th minute on Bowles' second assist of the game.  Bowles then tallied her goal unassisted one minute later.  Ashleigh Yockey scored her first career goal in the 32nd minute on Bowles' third assist of the game.  Staci Johnson rounded out the first half scoring on her first career goal, coming unassisted in the 36th minute.  Over an eight minutes stretch in the second half, the Bears saw three players tally their first career goals.  The goals included; Brittany Brooks assisted by Bailey Hill, M.E. Kennedy assisted by Danielle Morgan, and Stephanie Rhoads assisted by Brooks.  Shawnee State outshot the Cougars 27-10 in the game.  SSU's Sam Rolsen got the win as she played 45 minutes in goal, recording four saves.  Freshman goalkeepers Paige Apel and Sami Mason each saw second half action as they each recorded one save in the game.  MSU's Megan Alderman got the loss, as she gave up three goals and tallied four saves in 20 minutes of action.  Stephanie Hood tallied six saves over the final 70 minutes.  [Box Score]
 
September 4 @ Georgetown
Shawnee State managed five shots on goal, but could not find the back of the nets as they fell 2-0 to Georgetown College. Sam Rolsen tallied six saves in the game as she tallied 86 minutes in goal.  Freshman Sami Mason tallied one save in four minutes of action. [Box Score]
 
September 2 @ West Virginia Tech
Shawnee State opened the season with a 3-0 win at West Virginia Tech.  Shawnee State controlled the entire game.  The Bears' junior Kelley Bowles scored the first goal of the game at the 30:20 on an assist from sophomore Marie-Elana Kennedy.  Bowles then scored again in the 42nd minute of play on an assist from freshman Lauren Pritt to give the Bears the 2-0 lead at the half.  To open the second half, Pritt scored on an assist from sophomore Danielle Morgan in the 57th minute of action.  SSU's Sam Rolsen got the shutout as she tallied 9 saves in the game.  West Virginia Tech's Andrea Arias recorded 7 saves in the game.
