October 31 vs. Georgetown
Seven seniors completed their soccer careers at Shawnee State University on Saturday afternoon on a good note as the Bears defeated Georgetown 3-0 at South Point High School to close out the 2009 season.  With neither team finding the back of the nets in the first half, sophomore Lenier Crawford got the Bears scoring going with his first goal of the season in the 50th minute.  Senior Drew Sampson found freshman Chad Johnston in the 71st minute as Johnston tallied his fourth goal of the season.  In the 86th minute of play, Sampson found fellow senior Matt Lonsinger off of a corner kick to give the Bears the 3-0 advantage.  [Box Score]
 
October 29 vs. Malone
Shawnee State men's soccer team fell short to Malone on Thursday afternoon at the VA Stadium in Chillicothe to end conference play for the 2009 season.  Down two goals, Shawnee State rallied back in the second half and tied the game, then gave up a goal in the 78th minute of play to fall 3-2.  Malone got the scoring going early as they scored just seven minutes into the game on a through ball from Ross Cochran to John David Eades.  Malone took a 1-0 lead at the half.  Malone scored their second goal of the game six minutes into the second half on a cross from Samuel Erchick to Adam Sharpnack.  Shawnee State got on the board as Paul Adkins found Luke Purpero for a goal in the 56th minute of play.  Adkins then tied the game on a header from Lenier Crawford in the 71st minutes of action.  Malone scored again on a steal by Philip Fisher in the 78th minute of play to give Malone the 3-2 win.  Shawnee State was out shot 7-5 in shots on goal.   SSU's Ryan Hooper played the full 90 minutes of play and tallied four saves in the game.  Malone's Warden Neuenschwander tallied three saves in 90 minutes of play.  [Box Score]
 
October 24 @ Houghton

The Bears lost to Houghton 4-1.  SSU's sophomore Paul Adkins tallied the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute of action to give the Bears the 1-0 halftime lead.  Houghton began their scoring in the 60th minute and tallied three goals in ten minutes. Shawnee State's Kevin Fischer tallied eight saves in the game, while HC's Steve Zacchigna tallied two saves.  [Box Score]

 
October 23 @ Roberts Wesleyan

Shawnee State was shutout by Roberts Wesleyan 3-0.  The Bears were out shot 13-4 on shots on goal.  Shawnee State's Ryan Hooper tallied 10 saves in 90 minutes in goal.  RWC's Brion Ehman tallied four saves in the game.  [Box Score]

 
October 17 vs. Ohio Christian
With less than five minutes left in the game, Shawnee State's Steven Cox found the back of the net to give the Bears the 1-0 victory over Ohio Christian.  Shawnee State out shot the Trailblazers 19-8 in the game and 17-3 with shots on goal.  Shawnee State's Kevin Fischer played the final 45:00 minutes in goal for the Bears and tallied three saves.  [Box Score]
 
October 14 vs. Johnson Bible College
Shawnee State men's soccer team defeated Johnson Bible College 4-2 Johnson Bible College got on the board first on an goal by Shawnee State in the 3rd minute of play.  Paul Adkins scored his first of two goals in the game to get the Bears on the board.  He tallied he first goal in the 12th minute of play on an assist from Lenier Crawford to knot the game at one apiece.  Adkins tallied his second goal in the 53rd minute of play to give the Bears the lead on an assist from Ryan Beatty.  Shawnee State scored less than four minutes later as Luke Purpero found Steven Cox for a goal.  Chad Johnston recorded the Bears final goal of the game in the 72nd minute of action unassisted.  Johnson Bible College's Spenser Proctor scored in the 85th minute off a corner kick by Kevin Roach to tally the final score.  Shawnee State's Kevin Fischer and Ryan Hooper each tallied two saves in 45 minutes in goal.  JBC's Joseph Chanko tallied seven saves in the game. October 15 vs. Mount Vernon
Shawnee State men's soccer team managed to hold Mount Vernon to only one goal, but could not find the back of the net, as the Bears fell 1-0 to Mount Vernon on Thursday evening.  Cody Snouffer scored the only goal of the game on an assist from Scott Spangler in the 38th minute of play to give the Cougars the win.  Shawnee State was out shot 7-0 in shots on goal in the game.   SSU's Kevin Fischer tallied five saves in the 75 minutes in goal.  David Cross tallied one save for the Bears in 15 minutes in goal.  [Box Score]
 
October 10 vs. Point Park

In an offensive struggle, neither team could find the back of the net as Shawnee State ties 0-0 with Point Park Each team tallied five shots on goal in the game.  Shawnee State's Kevin Fischer and Point Park's Phil Malle each tallied 110 minutes in goal and recorded five saves.

October 9 vs. Daemen

Shawnee State picks up their first conference win of the season as they defeated Daemen College 3-1.  Luke Purpero scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute of play.  Daemen's John LoBianco knotted the game in the 16 minute on an unassisted goal.  Purpero tallied his second goal of the game, which would be the game winner, in the 26th minute of play and give the Bears the 2-1 halftime lead.  Paul Adkins rounded out the scoring for the Bears as he scored 48 seconds into the second half.  Ryan Hooper tallied 10 saves in the game for the Bears.  DC's Jeff Spencer recorded five saves in the game. October 3 @ Walsh
Shawnee State lost to Walsh 3-0. Shawnee State was outshot 14-3 in the game. Ryan Hooper played the entire game and tallied six saves.  Walsh's Mike Kelley tallied two saves in the game.  [Box Score]
 
September 26 @ Notre Dame

Shawnee State lost to Notre Dame College 10-0 Notre Dame had a 2-0 lead three minutes into the game and never looked back as seven different players tallied goals.  Shawnee State was outshot 37-4 in the game.  SSU's Ryan Hooper tallied four saves in the 1st half of the game and Kevin Fischer recorded six saves in the 2nd half of play. September 22 vs. Cedarville
Shawnee State fell to Cedarville 3-0 in their conference opener Cedarville's first goal came 29 seconds into the 2nd half on an own goal by Shawnee State.  Matt Niemeic scored the second goal of the game on an assist from Ryan Chaney in the 81st minute of play.  Jonathan Blauert scored Cedarville's final goal in the 84th on an assist by James Twinem to tally the final score.  Shawnee State was outshot 23-4 in the game.  SSU's Kevin Fischer tallied nine saves in the game.  CU's Kevin Bender tallied two saves in the game. September 20 @ St. Catharine
Shawnee State's Luke Purpero scored the only goal of the game to give the Bears the 1-0 victory over St. Catharine.  Shawnee State improves to 4-1 on the season.  Purpero's goal came in the 20th minute of play on assists from Paul Adkins and Lenier Crawford.  Ryan Hooper got the shutout for the Bears as he tallied 10 saves in the game. September 16 vs. Mount St. Joseph
Shawnee State defeated Mount St. Joseph 3-1.  Mount St. Joseph scored the first goal of the game in the 50th minute on a goal by Nick Siko on an assist by Nick Groman.  Shawnee State answered back in the 68th minute on a goal by Luke Purpero on an assist from Chad Johnston.  Paul Adkins scored the game winning two minutes later on an assist by Purpero.  The Bears clinched the game on a goal by Logan Coyer assisted by Purpero.  Shawnee State outshot Mount St. Joseph 25-14 in the game.  SSU's Kevin Fischer got the win for the Bears as he tallied two saves in the game.  MSJ's Max Hoffman recorded 14 saves in the game.  [Box Score]
 
September 12 vs. Berea
Shawnee State shutout Berea College 3-0.  Shawnee State's Chad Johnston (Chardon, OH) scored the first goal on the game in the 18th minute of play on assists by Lenier Crawford )Columbus, OH) and Steven Cox (Upper Arlington, OH).  Johnston scored the Bears second goal in the 37th minute of play on an assist by Wes Lyon to give the Bears the 2-0 advantage at the half.  Drew Sampson (Wheelersburg, OH) scored the final goal in the 87th minute of play on assists by Matt Lonsinger (Logan, OH) and Josh Hartman (Jamestown, OH).  Shawnee State outshot Berea 16-13 in the game.  SSU's Kevin Fischer tallied eight saves in the game to record the shutout.  Berea's Chase Cole tallied six saves in the game.  [Box Score]
 
September 5 vs. Huntington @ St. Francis Tournament
Shawnee State bounced back on Sunday to defeat Saint Francis 2-1.  SSU's Steven Cox scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Lenier Crawford in the 23rd minute.  Saint Francis's Sam Meyer tied the game on an assist by Randy Smith in the 41st minute of action.  Luke Purpero scored the game winning goal unassisted at the 69th minute of play. September 6 vs. St. Francis @ St. Francis Tournament
Shawnee State lost to Huntington by a score of 5-0.  SSU was outshot 14-6 in the game.  SSU's Kevin Fischer tallied one save in the game.  HC's Kevin Keske tallied three saves in the game to get the win.  [Box Score]
