The Shawnee State Bear Run is a biannual event, which is held each Spring and Fall on and around the campus of Shawnee State University.  The 5K walk/run has grown immensely over the years.  Just over 200 individuals finished the initial race.  A record 870 participants finished in the Fall 2009 event.  The Bear Run is free to all students and children as well as Shawnee State faculty and staff.  For the general public the entry fee is $10.00 for pre-registration and $15.00 for walk-ups.  All participants receive a free t-shirt featuring the infamous "Running Bear." 2009 Fall Bear Run Results

15th ANNUAL FALL BEAR RUN HUGE SUCCESS
The 15th Annual Shawnee State Bear Run was a huge success as a record number 870 participants finished the race.  Jeremy Hornick was the overall winner as he finished the 5K course in 15:31.  Hornick also took home the Larry Mangus Award that is awarded to the top Shawnee State student finisher.  Rachel Appleton was the women's overall finisher as she finished the course in 19:37.  Danielle Morgan was the top SSU student finisher and took home the Larry Mangus Award as she ran the course in 20:51.

Bear Run t-shirts will be given out before the race for those individuals who have pre-registered. 
Those participants who register the day of will receive their shirts at the completion of the race.
