Al Brown comes
to SSU after working at SOCF as a Corrections Officer, and
retiring after 30 years. He has been at SSU since February
2007. He began as a part-time custodian; in June he became
permanent part-time. He is married to his wife, Martha, and
they have three grown children, 6 grandchildren, and are
currently expecting a set of twin grandchildren in September.
Al’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, and geneology. He’s
been tracing his geneology for the last 20 years and has gotten
back to the 1700s on both sides. He has discovered that he has
grandfathers who served in a historical capacity: one as a
Lieutenant in the Civil War, Union Army, and another in the
Revolutionary War.
When asked to
comment on how he likes it at SSU, Al said, “Shawnee State has a
very positive atmosphere; I am really enjoying it here. My team
members and the other employees at Shawnee State University have
made me feel welcome.”
Welcome, Al!

Casey Glenn
comes to SSU as part of a natural progression. She began school
here in 2000 and worked for awhile in the library, then moved to
McKinley Box Office as a student employee from 2001-05. Next,
she was Front-of-House Manager 2005-07. Since June 2007, she’s
been officially hired fulltime. Because she’s been here so
long, she knows a lot of people already. When Casey is not
working, she enjoys swimming and skiing. This past weekend she
went snowboarding for the first time at the Winter Place, WV.
When asked to
comment on her SSU experience, Casey said, “The Theater is such
a fun environment to work in, things are always changing and I
get to meet new people. I’m so excited to be hired
officially!”
Thank you,
Casey!
Lanette Wagner
came to Shawnee State University in May 2007. She works in
the Health Sciences Building. She serves as
Contract Secretary for Health Sciences and the Secretary to
Athletic Training and Sports Studies.
Lanette’s husband is Dave, and her children are Aaron 26,
Jessica 24, Brandon 23, and Chase 9. She also has an 8-year
old grandson. She attends Christ’s Community Church and
helps out there. She is the Fiscal Officer of Valley
Township. She is busy! She used to love to shop, but
doesn’t have time for that anymore. When asked to comment
on her time at SSU, Lanette said, “I enjoy working at
Shawnee State University, and I enjoy the people I work
with.”
Welcome to Shawnee State
University, Lanette!

Sandy
Duduit has been with Shawnee State University since May
2007. She serves in the position of Library Clerk II,
housed in the library basement. Before coming to SSU Sandy
worked as Administrative Assistant for a Financial Advisor.
Sandy is married to husband Ed. Her son, Isaac, is a
sophomore in high school. She stays busy attending his
sporting and music events. Sandy attends church at
Rubyville Community Church and helps teach the 3 & 4 year
olds. Sandy also enjoys reading (she works in a library--that sounds like the perfect job! ). When asked to comment
on her SSU employment so far, she said, “Everyone at SSU has
helped me get acclimated, feel comfortable, and at home in
my new job. Everyone I’ve come in contact with, from
Personnel to the Library, has been terrific!”
Welcome,
Sandy!

Kevin LeMaster
is the new Shawnee State University Preprofessional Services
Representative in the Teacher Education Department (the
position previously held by Marcia Tackett). He came to us
this past December. Prior to coming to coming to SSU he
spent several years working in data processing at Desco
Credit Union. Kevin and his wife, Nelda, have four
children: Desirea, Kevin, Katlyn, and Ryan. His hobbies
include: family & parenting, coin collecting, hiking,
camping, fitness, and writing poetry. Kevin
has shared one of his
poems below. When asked to comment,
Kevin said: I’m very glad to be at Shawnee State
University, and I hope to do many good things.
Welcome, Kevin!
Harvest
Moon
I bask beneath purple sky
And gaze amorously at stars
through nights’ glasses.
Moons glow shines down to give
Praise to earths bounty,
making way for its daytime
counterpart.
The morning rays warm the
earth
And wake it from its night
sleep,
beckoning its harvest to reach
for sky.
Blooming and bearing,
It yields bounty and riches,
Foretold by almanacs and men
of knowledge
as the harvest moon smiles
from its daytime bed.

This picture was taken at the American Legion, before President
Clinton came to Shawnee State University. Pictured in the photo
from left to right is Randal Lewis, President Clinton, and our
very own Elsie Shabazz, Academic Secretary of English &
Humanities. In front is her son, Delone Shabazz.
Elsie told us there was a gathering of around 100 Hillary
supporters there. It was very personal and close and he was
actually very kind. She said he spoke to Delone three
separate times, leaving where they were standing and coming back
and actually taking pictures as often as they liked.
Thanks Elsie for the submission!
