Presidential Charge to committee for 2008–2009
The Enrollment Management Committee is a university-wide
committee charged to:
-
Review
and recommend all current retention strategies and recommend
appropriate revisions and additions to those strategies, including
required resources;
-
Review
our current methods for measuring retention and recommend additional
methods;
-
Advise
the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management in the
formulation of institutional marketing strategies and activities;
-
Advise
the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management on the use of
financial aid and scholarships in student retention;
-
Evaluate
and recommend upon recommendations on retention strategies submitted
from other committees and offices.
This year I ask that the committee also:
-
Develop
preliminary recommendations to establish a "one-stop" location in
the current bookstore that includes all tutorial services for
students. This collaborative, open-concept student service area
must include the services currently provided by: student success
center, math lab, writing, lab, and TRIO center; and should focus on
providing a single point-of-contact for all students with academic
tutoring and assistance needs. Your work should include
collaboration with all units that might be included in a “one-stop”
location.
-
Develop
focused recommendations for enhancing university advising practices.
-
Make
preliminary recommendations for the parameters of a first-year
experience that will enhance retention.
