Criteria for admission:

A college GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) at the end of the semester in which application is made. A grade of “C” or higher in all pre-nursing course work, which includes the first two semesters and the summer session of the pre-nursing curriculum. Nursing applicants must have a composite ACT score of 22 and a score of 18 in all ACT sections or greater than 20 hours of college credit.

To complete the admission process, you must present

  • Completion of health physical.
  • Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification.
  • State and Federal criminal background check.
  • Current negative urine drug screen (a five-panel screen).

After graduating from Shawnee State with an associate's degree in nursing (and passing the NCLEX-RN examination), you'll have the option to work in hospitals, health care agencies and home health care agencies, just to name a few possible employers. In all of these, you have the chance to improve people's lives and be an advocate for preventative healthcare with local health agencies.
