Bachelor of History The Department of Social Sciences’ history program provides students with a general understanding of the development of American, western, and select non-western civilizations. Special attention is given to the problems of modernization and the increasing connections between societies around the globe. The program encourages you to develop your analytical capacities, research skills, and writing talents, which, in turn, stand you in good stead as you pursue a career in law, education, journalism, government service, or the private sector. The courses you choose to meet the requirements for the history major may not count as General Education Program courses. The chairperson must approve any variation from the required program.
