Activities and Research
- Most notably, I am presently working on a "Parent's Guide to Heavy Metal Music and Culture" with my son, Cameron. Over the summer of 2010 we traveled extensively attending various concerts interviewing heavy metal fans and members of bands including Lamb of God, Bullet for My Valentine, Norma Jean, Chimaira, All That Remains and Unearth to name a few. I am also currently overseeing a research project on aggression and music genre preference with several students.
- In July, 2010 an article for which I was a contributing author, "College Students? Coverage and Perceptions of Health Insurance," was accepted for publication in the Journal of the National Medical Association.
- Also in 2010, I received acknowledgement as a contributing editor for the 3rd edition of Ronald Holmes and Stephen Holmes book "Serial Murder."
- And finally, I frequently speak to various organizations and government entities on community issues and crime.
