Students graduating from Shawnee State University’s Medical Laboratory Science Programs have been fortunate to see 100% placement in the job market. Graduates have sought employment at many area hospitals, have relocated to other cities to readily find employment, and have found opportunities in many areas outside the hospital setting. Many graduates decide to continue their education at the
master’s level and have found success in professional schools
including medical, chiropractic, and pharmacy schools.
Others have opted to work in doctor’s offices or clinics,
while some have gone into large industrial laboratories such as Proctor
and Gamble, Sun Chemical, and Atomic Energy Plants.
Due to the national decline of graduates recently, there has been a drastic increase in the demand for the laboratory professional. The program receives frequent inquiries related to the number of possible graduates and how graduates might be enticed to leave the area to find employment. There has been an increase in the number of organizations offering sign-on bonuses, payment for relocation, and tuition reimbursement for those wishing to pursue further degrees. |
