Shawnee State University is home to the Alpha Omicron Sigma chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.

English majors and minors who meet the following academic guidelines may be eligible for membership in Sigma Tau Delta:

1. You must be majoring or minoring (or the equivalent) in the discipline of English.
2. You must have a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond English 1105. 
3. You must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in all your English courses at SSU.
4. You must have a 3.0 or higher in general scholarship.
5. You must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college coursework.
6. You must currently be enrolled as a students at Shawnee State University.

Sigma Tau Delta charges all new members a one-time initiation fee (currently $37).
