Instructor / Coach: Travis Lynn
Ready to take your game to the next level? Shawnee State Esports camp aims to break you through your plateau. Learn what it takes to be competitive in broadcasting and Esports.
Campers will learn about team structure, tournament formats, skill development, broadcasting, and the Esports ecosystem. Utilizing a range of the most popular competitive titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, Street Fighter V, and Hearthstone, campers will gain the knowledge needed to compete. Campers will be able to analyze their game play along with professional events & streams to understand high level strategies and production. Along with spotting holes in their own gameplay, the analytical approach will help players optimize their practice time and improve faster.
Have you ever had a great idea for a game, but didn’t know how to make it a reality? Or have you ever considered a career as a game programmer?
If you answered yes, this week-long program might be just what you’re looking for. The camp is designed to be a hands-on introduction to game creation using the GoDot game engine. Campers will learn the basics of game development and programming in a fun environment.
By the end, campers will have several “micro-games” to show off to their family and friends and will have the necessary background and resources to continue developing games for the rest of their life. No prior programming or game development knowledge is necessary, but general computer knowledge is helpful.
In addition to the instructor, there will be two teaching assistants from SSU’s Bachelor’s in Game Programming degree to help with any difficulties campers might encounter.
The Game Design & Art camp will focus on the processes of designing a game and level, then filling each level with the campers’ own artwork.
Campers will learn to create their own 3D art assets, textures, adding sound and interactivity to their game. The knowledge gained at camp can be applied for other future personal projects as they further explore game design and development.
Campers will be learning their skills using industry standard software such as Maya, Substance Painter and the Unreal Engine.
